Bräunrode is a district of the town Arnstein in the northern district of Mansfeld- South Harz in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geography

Bräunrode located on the eastern edge of the Harz about 7 km west of Hettstedt. The highest point is 308 and the lowest point 266 meters above the sea level. To the north and west of the site is bounded by woods, in the east and south by fields.

History

1060, the village was first mentioned as Bruniroht. Friedrichrode was built by Friedrich von Knigge, and even today the city bears his name.

Willerode was first mentioned in 1377 and was until 1742 an independent municipality.

By 1945, the inhabitants of the districts worked on the estates. The inhabitants of Bräunrode were mostly small and medium farmers who have worked even in Mansfeld copper mining, depending on the financial situation. 1952 first Agricultural production cooperatives were established. From 1960 to 1989, there were in Bräunrode no private farms.

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Bräunrode, Alterode, Pommern, Harkerode, Quenstedt, Stangerode, Sylda, Ulzigerode and Welbsleben and the city Sandersleben (Anhalt) merged to form the new town Arnstein. The administrative community Wipper - A, one of the Bräunrode, was dissolved.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 19 April 1995, the regional council hall and registered by the State Archives under the Magdeburg coat of arms registration number 44/1995.

Blazon: " Argent, three green fir trees on green with two silver crossed axes Dreienberg occupied. "

The colors of the community are green and white.

So far, the community used a picture seal with three firs. The council decided, therefore, to lead the new coat of arms three coniferous trees on a mountain (in this case a three- mountain). In connection to the name is assigned at the request of the Community of the Three mountain with two crossed axes, which should indicate that the place once emerged from the clearing of the forest in the past.

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Jörg Mantzsch.

Bräunröder Church: It is the third church on this site since the others are burned. The church was dedicated November 17, 1881 by General Schulz.

Between Bräunrode and Friedrichrode are located in the forest the remains of the hilltop castle.

On the 2nd weekend in July each year is organized by the local festival.
