Breznička, Stropkov District

Breznicka ( until 1927 slovak " Breznicka "; Hungarian Kisberezsnye - to 1902 Kisbrezsnyice ) is a small municipality in the district Stropkov in eastern Slovakia.

The community Breznicka located in a tributary of the Ondava, about five kilometers northeast of Stropkov. The surrounding wooded grounds of Ondauer mountain country ( Ondavská Highlands ) east of Breznicka reaches a height of 506 meters above the sea ( Polana ).

The Farming village stretches along the Strait of Stropkov - Sitnik about Vojtovce after Velkrop. Due to the somewhat secluded location Brezničkas and the unspoiled environment some storks live in the village. Neighboring communities of Breznicka are Chotča the west and north, Velkrop in the northeast, Solnik and Potocký the southeast, Vojtovce in the south and Stropkov in the southwest.

In 1408, the town was first mentioned. The Greek - Catholic Church in Breznicka emerged in the 19th century.

The population is almost 96 % of Slovaks, Ruthenians are 4%. 93 % of residents gave as a confession of Greek - Catholic.
