Březová (Beroun District)

Březova ( German Bschesowa ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north of Hořovice and belongs to Okres Beroun.

Geography

Březova is located in the south of Pürglitzer mountain country on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Pekelský and Pařezový creek to Stroupinský Potok. To the south lie the castles Žebrák and Tocnik.

Neighboring towns are Kublov in the north, Hředle in the east, in the southeast Chlustina, Tocnik in the south and Bzová in the southwest.

History

The first mention of Březova place in the year 1399. The village originally stood northwest of the current location in Pürglitzer forest in the clearing Petrovka. Famous for its pottery place belonged to the rule Tocnik and was also mentioned as Jan the Elder Lobkowicz acquired this in 1557. 1593 lost his son George III. from the Lobkowicz all goods for involvement in the conspiracy against the Emperor Rudolf II. During the Thirty Years' War Březova was destroyed and never rebuilt on the old site. In the second half of the 17th century, the founding of a new settlement on the present site, it never achieved the old meaning was again. After the replacement of patrimonial regimes in 1848 Březova was a part of the community Bzová and gained its independence in 1874. In 1877, the first village school to teach.

During the Second World War, the Third Plenum of the Central Committee of the illegal Communist Party of Czechoslovakia took place in the city, in Údolí ticha Chata Votruba on 9 July 1943.
