Brian Savage

Brian Savage ( born February 24, 1971 in Sudbury, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who in his active period from 1989 to 2006 the Canadiens de Montréal for the Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League played.

Career

Brian Savage began his career as a hockey player in his hometown junior team at Sudbury Cubs, for which he was active in the 1989/90 season. He then spent three years at the Miami University, for their hockey team he played parallel to his studies in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. During this period he was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1991 in the eighth round as a total 171 players from the Canadiens de Montréal. The 1993/94 season began the winger with Team Canada at the Olympic preparation and finished it with the Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League as well as their farm team Fredericton Canadiens of the American Hockey League. From the 1994/95 season he played exclusively with the Canadiens de Montréal in the NHL, where he became the leading player. The majority of the 1999/2000 season he missed because of a neck injury.

In January 2002, Savage was given together with a third- round option for the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in exchange for the Russians Sergei Berezin to the Phoenix Coyotes. There he remained seasonal spread for two years before he committed at the end of the 2003/ 04 of the St. Louis Blues. After the season was 2004/ 05 failed due to a lockout, he played in the 2005/06 season for the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL. He then finished his career at the age of 35 years.

Internationally

For Canada, Savage took part in the World Championships in 1993 and 1999, and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. At the Winter Games in 1994 he won the silver medal with his team.
