Briefcase Full of Blues was the first album by the band The Blues Brothers; it was released in 1978 by Atlantic Records. On the Billboard 200 it reached the first place, and there was a double - platinum. Furthermore, were also published two single albums, with the songs "Rubber Biscuit", which reached the 37th place on the Billboard Hot 100, and " Soul Man " (No. 14).

The live album was recorded at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, where the Blues Brothers appeared as the opening act for comedian Steve Martin.

In the liner notes of the album, the fictional background story of the 1980 released film "Blues Brothers" is told, grew up after Jake and Elwood in a Catholic orphanage and were taught there by the caretaker Curtis in blues. Your blood brothers they sealed by the blood of their mixed cut by a string of Elmore James' guitar middle finger. In the film the rescue of the orphanage is described.
