Brigitte Yagüe

Brigitte Yague Enrique ( born March 15, 1981 in Palma de Mallorca) is a Spanish Taekwondo. It starts in the weight category up to 49 kilograms. With three world and four European Championships she is one of the most successful Taekwondo their country.

Yague first started out in the weight class up to 47 kg. They won their first successes in 1998, in Istanbul, she was Junior World Champion and European Champion in Eindhoven in the adult area. Three years later, with silver at the World Championships in Jeju -si her first World Cup medal. In the following years she established herself in the world rankings and won three years in two European and one world title. Yague qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. She was one of the favorites there, but failed already in their opening battle and retired. In the post-Olympic year Yague could but able to return to their old successes and won in the weight category up to 51 kg at the European Championships in Riga and the World Championships in Madrid, respectively the silver medal.

More tracks collected Yague at the 2007 World Championships in Beijing, where she won with a final victory over Ana Zaninović gold. Also at the 2008 European Championships in Rome, she won the title. Disappointing, however, was the continental Qlympiaqualifikation. Yague failed in the quarterfinals to Sümeyye Manz and missed their second participation. With another world title in 2009 in Copenhagen and bronze medals at the 2011 World Championships in Gyeongju and the 2012 European Championship in Manchester, however, they remained successful in the following years.

Yague qualified at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in January 2012 in Kazan with a semi-final victory over Kristina Kim for the Olympic Games in London. There she won the silver medal, which she lost the final of the defending champion Wu Jingyu.
