The Brocade Technologies AG (also brocade AG) from 1996 to 2000, a German stock exchanges star of the New Economy and the New Market and went down with the bursting of the dotcom bubble.

Brocade developed e -business solutions and counted in 2000, the leading international providers of Internet banking solutions ( sub-segment of electronic banking ). Based on the Brocade solutions was the modular e - services platform Twister. This cross-industry software integrated with existing IT systems and applications in companies and tied them securely to various electronic channels such as Internet or cellular phone.

Brocade was founded in 1994 by five friends Stefan Roever (1965, studied law and business administration ), Boris the other (1958, Ph.D. in Physics ), Achim Schlumpberger (1965, Diploma in Computer Science ), Michael Schumacher (1961, Diploma in Computer Science ) and Michael Janssen ( 1966, Business Administration ) was founded. Office of the company was originally Böblingen near Stuttgart. Later, the company headquarters was moved to Stuttgart -Vaihingen. With the IPO of brocade in 1998 Stefan Roever took over the role of Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) together with Boris other as co- CEO. CEO of Brocade from 1999 was Stefan Roever.

More than 2,000 customers worldwide use / used Brocade solutions, including the German bank, Direkt Anlage Bank (DAB Bank), Consors, MLP AG, Comdirect, WestLB, numerous German and Austrian savings banks and cooperative banks, data centers, Allianz AG, ABN Amro, debitel, T-Motion or Swiss post. In 2000, the company had more than 1,400 employees and offices in 17 countries. In November 2001, the company went bankrupt because of insolvency.

Chronology

  • September 1994: Founding of brocade in Böblingen, Germany
  • September 1998: IPO on the German Neuer Markt. Brocade is the European market leader in Internet banking solutions.
  • March 1999: MeTechnology merged with brocade.
  • May 1999: The Board of Management is awarded by the accountants Ernst & Young with the "Entrepreneur of the Year" in high- tech.
  • September 1999: WestLB sees enormous growth potential in brocade.
  • October 1999: Boris and the other Achim Schlumpberger leave the brocade Board. The other is co-CEO position and will become Chairman with special functions. Schlumpberger are on a CTO position and focuses as a software architect in the development of Twister.
  • November 1999: Intel participates with around 20 million marks brocade.
  • March 2000: Brocade placed a bond of 125 million euros. The annual interest rate is 11.5 percent. Brocade is a world leader in software for the Internet banking.
  • May 2000: Brocade increases sales by 118%.
  • June 2000: Brocade takes on the U.S. software company GemStone and Blaze for a total of 1.7 billion German marks in shares. Brocade, MasterCard and Siemens Announce Partnership.
  • October 2000: Siemens participates with about 141 million marks brocade.
  • December 2000: Boris and the other Achim Schlumpberger leave the company. Other changes in the Supervisory Board.
  • February 2001: Brocade receives a patent for the electronic signing by mobile phone.
  • April 2001: Due to the slump in sales in the software industry, the Management Board revised its revenue guidance downward.
  • June 2001: Brocade builds a fifth of its points from 1450, includes locations and looking for investors. Half of the capital stock is depleted.
  • July 2001: Brocade reported a quarterly loss of 824 million euros and is negotiating with bondholders about a resolution of the annuity.
  • August 2001: The restructuring expert Dirk arrow is appointed to the board of brocade.
  • November 2001: Brocade is over-indebted. With the Noteholders no agreement is reached.
  • November 23, 2001: Brocade files for bankruptcy due to insolvency.
  • The e- banking division of brocade was sold to the company DataDesign AG. The e-payment division went to the U.S. company Global eONE ( a First Data company ) and continued as an independent company under Encorus Technologies. Encorus was finally acquiriert Qpass 2005.
