Geography
Brook Port is located at 37 ° 07'25 " north latitude and 88 ° 37'49 " west longitude and stretches over 2 km ². The city is situated on the right bank of the Ohio River, which forms the border with Kentucky. The mouth of the Ohio to the Mississippi River at the junction of the three states of Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri is 65.8 kilometers west. The border with Indiana is situated 134 km north-east.
Neighbouring places of Brookport are Metropolis (14,4 km west-northwest ) and Shady Grove (7.1 km east). On the opposite bank lies the city of Paducah, Kentucky, whose center is 7.5 km south-east of Brookport.
The nearest large towns are St. Louis, Missouri (256 km north-west ), Louisville, Kentucky ( 358 km east-northeast ), Tennessee's capital Nashville (230 km southeast) and Tennessee's largest city of Memphis (282 km southwest).
Traffic
The oldest road is actually the Ohio River, on which an important part of the flow of goods transported through the eastern center of the USA today. The river is navigable for large barges held by dams.
On the western edge of Brookport crosses Interstate 24, which runs from north-west to Nashville, Ohio. Through the town center leads the U.S. Highway 45 and beyond Irvin S. Cobb Bridge in the south of the city. All other roads are minor roadways or within city roads.
