Bruno Bonnell

Bruno Bonnell ( born October 6, 1958 in Algiers ) is a French entrepreneur and computer games developers. Bonnell was the co-founder and longtime director of the French computer game manufacturer Infogrames, which grew it into one of the largest companies in the industry.

Biography

Training and career start

After his baccalauréat, he took on a Classe préparatoire higher mathematics until 1980 and then studied chemical engineering at the École Supérieure Chimie Physique Electronique de Lyon. Subsequently, he studied until 1982 at the University Paris -Dauphine economics and graduated with the title of maitrise d' économie appliquée (Diploma ) from. After a brief period working for Industrial Assistance Dauphinoise in Grenoble, he got a job as a business economist at Thomson, where he was responsible for marketing the computer Thomson TO7. Together with Christophe Sapet he wrote the Guide Pratique de l' ordinateur familial Texas Instruments Level 2, with its revenues both founded the game developer Infogrames on 1 June 1983.

Infogrames

From 1983 to 2007 Bonnell led the company in various positions including Chairman, Chief Creative Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, the developer rose to become Europe's leading and world's third largest game publishers and expanded through numerous acquisitions, but were acquired with several debts that the company ultimately drove into a severe financial crisis. This led, among other things, in March 2003 with regard to efforts to push Bonnell from the post of Managing Director of Infogrames. Under Bonnell Group revived the Atari brand new and used it from 2001 for the publication of his games. As of 2003, all distribution offices were Bonnells after leaving finally in 2009 renamed the group as a whole in Atari.

From February 2000 to Bonnell was in addition to his duties at Infogrames also CEO of the U.S. subsidiary of GT Interactive ( Atari, Inc.). He gave up his office in December 2004 to James Caparro, however already resigned again after six months, after which Bonnell transitional again took over the management. In September 2006, finally took David Pierce the post of President and CEO of Atari, Inc. Bonnell. On 5 April 2007 Bonnell finally resigned from his remaining offices within the Group. His departure from the company received a favorable response on the stock exchange on the date of announcement of the value of shares increased by 24 %.

Other activities

In June 2008, taking over the post of president of Bonnell zSlide, a game developer near Paris. Currently, Président - directeur général Bonnell (CEO ) of Robopolis, a company from Lyon, which sells service robot. Bonnell was and is a member of the Board of Directors of several companies, including for the food group Danone (since 22 April 2005), ANF Immobilier, Eurazeo and the film company Pathé ( since May 4, 2008).

In addition to his professional activities Bonnell in 1995 was elected President of the Syndicat des Uitgevers de Logiciels de Loisirs (SELL ), a French interest association of computer games developers. He is currently President of the French Federation of interest for service robots, Syrobo. Furthermore, Bonnell involved in the Fußbalteam Olympique Lyonnais.

Developed in cooperation with French TV provider Canal Plus Bonnell the TV channel Game One, aimed specifically at players.
