Bruno Visentini

Bruno Visentini ( born August 1, 1914 in Treviso, † 13 February 1995 in Rome ) was an Italian politician.

Life

Visentini studied law at the University of Padua. In 1941 he emigrated to France, where he was arrested in 1943, and returned with the end of Benito Mussolini. He founded jointly with Ugo La Malfa Partito d' Azione Italian. In 1946 he joined the liberal Partito Repubblicano Italiano and was professor at the University of Urbino. From 1950 to 1970 he was vice-president of the Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale and was in those years from 1962 to 1983 - with a brief interruption - chairman of the company Olivetti.

He was elected as an MP in the Camera dei deputati 1972. From November 23 1974 to 12 February 1976, he was the successor of Mario Tanassi finance ministers in Italy. 1976 Visentini was elected to the Senate of Italy. As the successor of Ugo La Malfa, he served as budget minister 29 March 1979 to 14 July 1979. In the 1980s he was again Minister of Finance as the successor of Francesco Forte on August 4, 1983 to April 17, 1987. In the European Parliament he was from 1979 to 1984 and again from 1989 to 1994 and was a member there from 1992 to 1994 interim president.
