Bryanston School

The Bryanston School is a boarding school, which is located in Blandford Forum, a small town in Dorset, England. Its foundation dates back to the year 1928, which is relatively young for an English boarding school. Originally included the lands with more than 1.6 square kilometers and built by Richard Norman Shaw Country House Viscount Portman. The Bryanston School is a boarding school for boys and girls, which is attended by over 600 students.

History and Mission

In the early days Bryanston was a small school with only 23 students and seven staff. 2004, there were 650 students and 80 teachers, employees are not counted. The motto of this relatively young liberal school is: " Et nova et vetera " - " both new as well as old."

Bryanston is known for its liberal attitude and the wide range of leisure activities. Furthermore, students with special musical, artistic or athletic talents will be strongly encouraged.

The school is funded by tuition fees and donations. The school fees are around £ 26,000 to the highest in England.

This setting of the school is due in large part Wheare Tom, the last rector of the boarding school, who retired at the end of the school year 2005. His successor Sarah Thomas is the first female Rector since the existence of the school.

The colors of the school colors are yellow and blue.

In addition, the JACT Ancient Greek Summer School takes place there every year, on which many of the most renowned classical philologist Britain have participated.

Clothing

Unlike most boarding schools in England Bryanston School has no school uniform, only a dress code ( "Dress Code").

Men should wear polo shirts, black or dark blue pants (no jeans ) and leather shoes. Women have the choice of dark blue or black skirts or pants and polo shirts. Optionally shirts are allowed.

The Bryanston School was named in 2006 by the BBC news channel for a total fourth best school in England.
