Buarcos is a comune ( freguesia ) in Portugal and belongs to the circle ( concelho ) of Figueira da Foz. The former fishing village and the town of Figueira Buarcos have grown together more and more in recent decades and today form an agglomeration.

History

The name probably derives from the Arabic Buadtharque. It was known before independence as Bulharcos, but in the estates of King Dom Afonso Henriques († 1185 ), it was already reported as Buarcos. Nature

Economy
