Budel

Budel is a village in the municipality Cranendonck in the Dutch province of North Brabant, about 25 kilometers south of Eindhoven. Budel borders the Belgian- Limburg municipality Hamont- Achel and the Dutch- Limburg Weert community. Budel is conveniently located on the Dutch motorway A2. In Budel Kempen Airport is located. Until 31 December 1996, the municipality Budel was independently and then was 1 January 1997, together with the municipality to municipality Marheeze Cranendonck.

In Budel is held annually in June with around 3,500 vehicles and 15,000 spectators one of the biggest VW Beetle meetings held in Europe.

Economy

  • The Budel'sche zinc factory from 1892 is located in Budel - Dorplein and is a daughter of refined zinc producer Nyrstar.
  • The brewery " Budels " from 1870 is one of the few still existing family breweries in the Netherlands in the hands of Arts family.
  • The Nassau- Dietz barracks in the Budelbergen. Built in 1956, the Barracks 1963 - 2005 used by the German Army and since by the Dutch military.
  • With the " Kempen Airport ' and the ' Airpark Brabant ' entertains the community Cranendonck a local small airport with a connected flight school and a restaurant operation.
