Bülent Arınç

Bülent Arınç (* 1948 in Bursa) is a Turkish politician of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP), whose founders he belonged in 2001. From 2002 to 2007 he was the 22nd President of the Parliament of Turkey from May 2009 to July 2011 Member of the Cabinet Erdoğan II as Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State. Prior to founding ACP, he was first a member of the Refah Partisi and joined after their ban in 1998 the Fazilet.

Life

Arınç studied law at the University of Manisa and the Law Faculty of Ankara University and then worked his training as a freelance lawyer.

Early political activity

Together with Ömer Cihat Kaya, Erol Camtakan, Eyüp Menderes and Cengiz Kantarci Bulent Arinc was (all of the Welfare Party ) accused on 19 November 1985 for an event in a cinema in Izmir. On January 21, 1986, all were sentenced up to Cengiz Kantarci under Article 163 of the Turkish Penal Code to 50 months in prison. In the revision of the verdict against three defendants has been confirmed, but not the judgment against Bülent Arınç. On February 24, 1987, the State Security Court in Izmir imposed the same penalty. In the following final revision before the High Criminal Division of the Court of Cassation Arınç was acquitted.

During his university years, Bülent Arınç was interested in politics; so he was a candidate in the parliamentary elections of 1995 for the constituency of Manisa and entered Refah Partisi for the Welfare Party in the Turkish National Assembly. There he was nominated for his group in the Legal Affairs Committee of the Parliament.

After the banning of the Welfare Party by the Constitutional Court on 15 February 1998, he joined the Virtue Party. Arınç was elected in the general election in 1999 as deputy of Manisa for the Virtue Party in Parliament. He became a member of the Commission for Foreign Affairs. The Constitutional Court banned the Virtue Party on 22 June 2001.

Establishment of the ACP and European Parliament President

2001 Arınç was one of the founders of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP, Justice and Development Party ), in which he is one of the most prominent politicians in addition to Erdoğan and Gül. In the parliamentary elections on November 3, 2002 Bülent Arınç candidate in his constituency for the AKP.

On November 19, 2002, he was elected President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He avoids public appearances with his wife Münevver Arınç, which he does not want to ban the wearing of a headscarf. Entry into the Erdoğan government

On 1 May 2009 he became a member of the Cabinet Erdogan II as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State, which was interpreted in Turkish media as a reaction Erdoğan on the relatively good performance of the Islamic Felicity Party ( Saadet Partisi ) in Turkish local elections of 2009. Arınç considered as representative of the Islamic- conservative wing within the ACP, is also one of the leaders of the Islamic movement Milli Görüş. In his new role as Vice Premier Arınç participates in the meetings of the National Security Council and is responsible for foundations for press and information policy for the state broadcaster TRT, the Anadolu news agency, the Radio and Television Authority RTÜK and the Directorate General.

Bülent Arınç is one of the main perpetrators and supporters for the conversion of churches into mosques in the Republic of Turkey.

Because of an alleged assassination attempt preparation for his 19 December 2009 determined the Turkish public prosecutor against two members of an anti - guerrilla special forces unit of the Turkish army.

In November 2013 he qualified Erdoğan's statement of wanting to take action against illegitimate cohabiting students, and declared it to be misunderstanding. As Erdoğan then, however, confirmed that he meant it exactly the way Arınç called on the Prime Minister to clarify and announced at the same time, no longer wanting to run for the AKP.
