The Federal Highway 12 (abbreviated as BAB 12) - Short Form: Highway 12 ( Abbreviation: A 12) - connects the capital city of Berlin with Frankfurt (Oder ) and Poland and is part of European route 30

It starts at Spreeau (Berliner Ring) at King Wustershausen and 1937 to Frankfurt ( Oder) opened. The section to the border with Poland was opened in 1957, but only a single lane. This part of the track The A was extended four lanes until 1992. Ends 12 on the Oder bridge. The highway runs along its entire length in the state of Brandenburg.

The continuation of A 12 on Polish territory is the local A2 to Poznań, Łódź and Warsaw is consistently passable since June 2012. Thus, the A 12 and the Polish A2 connect the two main cities of Berlin and Warsaw, and are part of an important road link between Western and Eastern Europe.

In 1999, the beltway addition (2001) was opened north of Fürstenwalde / Spree and opened the new exit Fiirstenwalde -east. Consequently, it was from 2001, significantly more traffic over transport Fiirstenwalde to Poland or to the German inland done.
