Burgenland state election, 2000

The state elections in Burgenland was conducted on December 3, 2000 and was the 19th state election in the province of Burgenland. The Social Democratic Party of Austria ( SPÖ) was able to extend their first place and stick with 17 mandates, the relative majority of seats. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP ) suffered slight losses and lost one of their 14 previous mandates. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ ) lost share of the vote and one of its original five mandates a. The big winner of the election were the Greens Burgenland ( GREEN ), added gained 3% and with two mandates for the first time moved into the state legislature.
