Burrillville is a city in the state of Rhode Iceland in the United States. It was founded on November 17, 1806 as an independent municipality, when the government of Rhode Iceland allowed the people of North Glocester to elect their own city government. The town was named after U.S. Senator James Burrill, who was Attorney General of Rhode Iceland at that time. Burrillville is located in the northwest corner of Rhode Iceland to the borders with Massachusetts and Connecticut, and thus in southern New England. History

The area of Burrillville was probably settled around 1662, when the first Europeans settled there. Originally, the city was a part of Gloucester. 1806, the city became independent and extended over about 155 km2. Burrillville comprises the villages of Oakland, Maplesville, Bridgeton, Pascoag, Wallum Lake, Nasonville, Glendale and Harrisville. Oakland

1849 John L. Ross bought about three acres of land and built there a dam to dam up water for a stone mill, which he had built in 1850, along with the surrounding houses.
