Cabo Wabo
The Cabo Wabo Cantina is a 1990 by the American singer and guitarist Sammy Hagar was established nightclub and restaurant in Cabo San Lucas, a former fishing village on the southern tip of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. History
Sammy Hagar visited Cabo San Lucas in the early 1980s when the place was still a small fishing village. At that time there was only one hotel, otherwise the place was not set up for tourists. In Hagar's second visit he met Jorge Viana, who later became manager of Cantina, and told him of his vision of a little tequila bar in which he wanted to build a small stage to play live when he felt like it. Viana was initially unconvinced and responded only polite. After Hagar Viana had a concert in San Diego, California, invited, but he was able to convince him of his idea.
As Hagar 1986 Member of Van Halen was, he dealt further with his idea and was inspired to the title Cabo Wabo. Viana and he looked for a suitable site for the club, were successful, and called a competition among local architects, the Marco Monroy decided for themselves. He visited Hagar in Los Angeles and presented his draft Hagar was thrilled. He overlooked, however, that the draft was held in square meters and not in the true measure of square feet in the United States. While his club was built in Cabo San Lucas, Hagar went on tour with Van Halen. When he returned to Cabo, he was surprised by the actual size of the club.
In order to celebrate a high-profile opening, he needed the help of the music channel MTV, which is why he asked the members of Van Halen, to attend the opening. The group members, Edward Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony agreed to Hagar offered them in return a share of the club, which was adopted by all. The Group's management moved in 1994 from the company after Hagar left the band and the Cantina had become economically unattractive for them.
Hagar ran the restaurant from then on with Marco Monroy on, who became his partner, because he believed in the potential of the club. Since Hagar was the first time in Cabo San Lucas, the place has tripled its size in about. Meanwhile, the club is interesting not only for tourists, but is also open to residents of the town likes.
