Cal Ripken, Jr.

Calvin Edwin " Cal" Ripken, Jr. ( born August 24, 1960 in Havre de Grace, Maryland) was an American baseball player who played from 1981 to 2001 in Major League Baseball for the Baltimore Orioles. His positions were those of the shortstops and third baseman. His father, Cal Ripken Sr. and his brother Billy Ripken were also playing for the Orioles.

He is best known for being the "Iron Man of Baseball" ( Iron Man of baseball ) since he graduated in a row for the Orioles on May 30, 1982 to 20 September 1998 without interruption 2,632 games., Surpassing the 56 -year-old record set by Lou Gehrig, who played 2130 games in a row. Overall, he completed 3,001 games.

January 9, 2007 Ripken was elected with 98.5 % of the possible votes in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Only Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver received a higher percentage share of the vote in the nearly sixty-year history of the Hall of Fame.

Today Cal Ripken Jr. has two teams in the Minor Leagues. The Aberdeen IronBirds and the Augusta Green Jackets. He also runs the marketing company " Ripken Baseball", which is to make the sport of baseball known worldwide.
