Calvin Davis

Calvin Davis ( born April 2, 1972 in Eutan ) is a retired American sprinter who specializes in the 400 - meter hurdles.

He was initially not a hurdler, but occurred mainly at the usual 400 -meter run. At the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships in Barcelona in 1995 he was a member of the U.S. 4 x 400 - meter relay. Together with Rod Tolbert, Death Long and Frankie Atwater, he won the gold medal in 3:07,37 minutes before the teams from Italy and Japan.

But since he could not achieve great results as a single starter International, advised him his coach Steve Silvey, convert saddle on the hurdles. After initial doubts, he finally took in the winter of 1995 on the hurdle training. The transition Davis succeeded so well that he was able to qualify as a third of the U.S. knockouts for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta after a few months. There he won in 47.96 s surprising the bronze medal behind his countryman Derrick Adkins and Samuel Matete from Zambia.

Subsequently, however, Davis was not able to maintain its shape from the Olympic season. In 2001 he succeeded once again to qualify for the IAAF World Championships in Edmonton. There, however, he dropped out in the semifinal round.

Calvin Davis is 1,83 m tall and weighed 79 kg to his playing days.
