The Good Sam Club 500 is a race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and takes place at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama instead. It is one of the four races that are with air restrictors, the so-called " restrictor plates", run.

By the year 1996, the race was held in early August or late July. As of the 1997 season it was moved at the request of fans in the early October in order to escape the hot summer temperatures and the unpredictable thunderstorms.

In the 1998 season, the name of the race was changed to that of the spring race. The fall race was known for the subsequent three years as Winston 500 as part of the Winston No Bull 5 bonus program.

During the performance, the driver Ricky Bobby in 2005 and other characters also were presented to the fans to scenes for the movie Ricky Bobby - to turn king of racers.

With the race of the 2007 season for the first time completed the Car of Tomorrow, a restrictor plate race.
