Canadian Country Music Association

The Canadian Country Music Association ( CCMA ) is a Canadian funding organization, which has made it its mission to ensure the continuous growth and development of the Canadian country music industry. This is done through communication, information and the marketing of Canadian Country Music and its artists nationally and internationally. The organization has its headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.

History

The Canadian Country Music Association was founded in September 1976 as the Academy of Country Music Entertainment. The organization began with the issue of the magazine RPM. The first Board of Directors was the same month announced that the organization will in future promote the Canadian country music industry. The organization started with the promotion by funding the event Country Music Week. The first awards in collaboration with the Country Music Week were the RPM Big Country Awards.

Between 1986 and 1987 the organization was officially renamed the Canadian Country Music Association ( CCMA ). Due to the growth and awareness of the organization now it was possible to win a private television station for the transfer of the award ceremony. The organization partnered with the second largest Canadian television station, CTV Television, a. So in 1987, the first time the Canadian Country Music Awards were broadcast live from coast to coast. This collaboration with CTV was obtained until 1998.

In 1999, the CCMA a new partnership with CBC Television and thus the transfers of awards and music videos began on the transmitter Country Music Television. The ceremonies of the Canadian Country Music Awards 2005 were broadcast for the first time also from the U.S. television channel Great American Country (GAC ) and the Australian Country Music Channel (CMC).

Venues

2010 have been awarded the CCMA Awards in Edmonton, Alberta. We recorded the strongest demand of all time. In 2011, the ceremonies in 2012 were held in Hamilton, Ontario, held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 2013 and 2014, the CCMA Awards will be awarded again in Edmonton.
