Candanchú

Candanchú is a district of the municipality Aísa in Aragon in the western Pyrenees. It was founded wasteland called as the first ski resort in Spain on a Camp d' Anjou 1928 below the Somportpass and near the ruins of the pilgrims 'hospital ' Santa Cristina. Before there was here a long time only the border fortress Castillo de Candanchú which, situated on the other side of the valley, was built for the driving of the Wegzolls and the road charging by traders and merchants, and for the protection of pilgrims.

From 1928 the first ski lessons were held in Spain Candanchú, today there are pistes with a total length of 74.8 km (39,8 km of slopes for all levels and 35 km cross-country ski trails) and a lift capacity of 21,300 skiers per hour. The difference in height between the valley station (1530 msnm ) and the mountain station (2400 msnm ) is 870 m, the ski pass is offered jointly with the neighboring ski resort Astún. The majority of cross-country skiing slopes located on French territory, there is access to the Spanish side, directly from the place of Candanchú and another on the French side at the pass of Somport.

Candachú is very well equipped with tourist infrastructure.
