Santa Cilia

Santa Cilia ( de Jaca ) is a comune ( municipality ) in the Pyrenees foothills on the edge of St James. It is located in the comarca in the province of Huesca Jacetania the Autonomous Community of Aragon. Still belongs to the municipality of the place Somanés.

In the village the church of Santa Cilia is (St. Cecilia ). But the place was named after the eponymous monastery, which no longer exists today. Mid-14th century it lost its autonomy and was under about two centuries, the monastery of San Juan de la Peña.

Geography

In the north, the municipality of Monte Canet ( 1249 m), bounded on the south by Mount Cuculo ( 1552 m).

The Rio Aragon flows north past Santa Cilia.

About the N -240, Santa Cilia from the east ( Jaca ) or from the westerly Puente la Reina de Jaca easily accessible. The nearest train station is 14 kilometers away Jaca, where takes place a regular bus service to Santa Cilia.

The next airports are of Zaragoza ( 148 km) airport and the Pamplona Airport ( 297 km). Santa Cilia has an airfield, the Aeródromo de Santa Cilia.

Economy

The main occupation of the inhabitants 193 is still in agriculture, the area is known for the green asparagus and since 1991 also for the production of wine vinegar.
