Canton of Soultz-Haut-Rhin

The canton of Soultz -Haut-Rhin is a further breakdown of the arrondissements Guebwiller in the department of Haut-Rhin in Alsace region of France.

History

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 with the establishment of the departments as part of the then " district Colmar ". With the establishment of the arrondissements on 17 February 1800 the canton was again cut as part of the then arrondissement of Colmar. From 1871 to 1919 the area was part of the then " circle Gebweiler " to which there was no further breakdown. Since June 28, 1919, the Canton is part of the arrondissement Guebwiller.

Geography

The canton is bordered to the north by the cantons Guebwiller and Rouffach, in the east to the Canton Ensisheim, to the south by the canton in the Arrondissement Cernay Thann and to the west by the cantons Thann and Saint -Amarin, both in the Arrondissement of Thann.
