Car Wash is an American musical comedy from 1976.
Action
Mr. B is the owner of Dee Deluxe Carwash, the most famous car wash in Los Angeles. There he has to deal with the bizarre figures of the city. In the daily hustle and bustle of car washer TC tries to get hold of a radio quiz tickets for the hottest disco in order to win his true love for themselves.
Criticism
Encyclopedia of the International film: The plot is primarily a succession of shallow gags mostly on clothes level; cynical jokes and a pesky music backdrop stand the desire to want to convey social problems in the way.
Awards
Car Wash was in competition for the Golden Palm in Cannes 1977. Director Michael Schultz received at the festival the Technical Grand Prize. Norman Whitfield received the award for Best Music. The former Motown producer and songwriter also received a nomination for the Golden Globes for Best Original Song. At the Grammy ' In 1977 he was awarded the trophy for Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special.
The written and produced by Whitfield eponymous title song Car Wash by Rose Royce was a worldwide hit.
