Carl Franklin

Carl Franklin ( * April 11, 1949 in Richmond, California) is an American actor, director and screenwriter.

After completing his studies at Berkeley Carl Franklin worked as a television actor. He appeared in television movies, miniseries and regular in unsuccessful series. He noted that this is not the right way and went to the American Film Institute. In technical presentation he graduated. The production company Concorde Films of Roger Corman was impressed with his thesis so that it took Franklin under contract.

After some work came in 1992 Franklin's breakthrough as a director with the film One False Move, from a screenplay by Billy Bob Thornton. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association awarded him for the New Generation Award, to the MTV Movie Award for Best Newcomer came and the IFP Spirit Award for best directing.

1995 Franklin directed the film Devil in a Blue, ( Devil in a Blue Dress) with Denzel Washington. Despite good reviews, the film was a flop audience. The 1998 film made family thing ( One True Thing ) with Meryl Streep, Renée Zellweger and William Hurt got a lot of praise and nominations for an Oscar and Golden Globe, but this film also flopped.

Franklin returned to television for a few years. Only since 2002, he is also working again for the cinema.

Franklin is married for the third time. From his second marriage two children come.
