Carthage Township is one of 14 townships of Athens County in the U.S. state of Ohio. According to the census in 2000 1467 inhabitants were registered here.

Geography

Carthage Township is located in the southeast of the Athens County in southeastern Ohio, is located in the southwest about 10 km from the Ohio River and borders clockwise to the townships: Rome Township, Troy Township, Olive Township, Meigs County, Orange Township ( Meigs County), Bedford Township ( Meigs County), Lodi Township and Canaan Township.

Management

The township is administered by a Board of Trustees consisting of three elected members. Two persons are elected in the year after the presidential election and one each in the previous year. The term of office lasts four years, beginning on 1 January. There is also a Township Clerk (Secretary), who is also elected in the year before the presidential election to a four -year term. Whose term of office begins on April 1.
