Cassibile (village)

Cassibile is a fraction ( district ) of Syracuse in Sicily. Here live about 4500 inhabitants, this work mainly in agriculture and in Syracuse.

Cassibile is located about 15 km south from the city center of Siracusa. Through the village leads the A18, which Syracuse with Noto and Rosolini connects to the southwest to the northeast and the later to be continued along the Sicilian coast until Gela (June 2013). Just south of the town flows the river of the same Cassibile, whom the Greeks called Kakyparis.

In the field of Cassibile there are traces of settlements since the Bronze Age. On September 3, 1943, the Armistice of Cassibile between the Kingdom of Italy and the Allies was signed in Cassibile.
