Castle Frank (TTC)

Frank Castle is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Bloor- Danforth line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of Bloor Street and Sherbourne Street. The station has side platforms, is used daily by an average of 8,650 passengers (2009 /10). It is one of the least frequented of the entire network, which is due to the low density of development around.

It offers connecting flights to two bus lines. The station is located in a short tunnel between two aboveground twisty sections. Directly west crossed the line on a bridge the canyon Castle Frank Brook ( also called Rosedale Ravine ). To the east of the Prince Edward Viaduct bridges the Don River. Your name received the gorge and the station of Castle Frank, who in 1794 not far from this place, built a summer residence of the Lieutenant-Governor John Graves Simcoe. Named after his son Francis House burned down in 1829, but the name stuck.

The opening of the station took place on 26 February 1966 in conjunction with the section Keele - Woodbine. To this day, at this point was a turning loop tram Toronto in operation. The Toronto Transit Commission announced the tram line on the south by subsequent Parliament Street in accordance with its then -aside policy, although they would certainly fulfills a feeder function. A planned 1996 reconstruction failed due to lack of financial resources and low passenger forecasts.
