Woodbine (TTC)

Woodbine is an underground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Bloor- Danforth line of the Toronto Subway, at the corner of Danforth Avenue and Woodbine Avenue. The station has side platforms, is used daily by an average of 13,810 passengers (2009 /10). It offers connecting flights to two bus lines.

The opening of the station took place on 26 February 1966 in conjunction with the section Keele - Woodbine. Just over two years was the eastern terminus here. The tram along the Danforth Avenue was shut down for the most part, but initially remained a short branch line to the vicinity of the station. There was a new turning triangle on the adjacent Strathmore Boulevard.

To facilitate access, let the Toronto Transit Commission a short connecting tunnel from the tram stop to build distribution level. Despite the great effort, this approach did not last long. The opening of the subway extension to the Warden on May 11, 1968, the tram service ended on the Danforth Avenue final; The short tunnel is now used as a storage room and a recreation room for the staff.
