Warden (TTC)

Warden is an above-ground subway station in Toronto. It lies on the Bloor- Danforth line of the Toronto Subway, at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Warden Avenue. The station, which has a central platform, is used daily by an average of 26,830 passengers (2009 /10).

It offers connecting flights to eight bus lines; these operate out of a bus terminal, which is connected to the station building. Furthermore, the commuters is a park -and-ride with 1092 chargeable parking available. At the northern end of the dam located on a station branches off to the southeast from a several hundred meter long siding. This track should be used for the delivery of rolling stock on the line of the Canadian National Railway (CN) originally, but has been little used since the main depot Greenwood Yard is a more appropriate transition.

The opening of the station on 11 May 1968 together with the section Woodbine - Warden. For more than twelve years here was the eastern terminus of the Bloor- Danforth Line. The extension to the station Kennedy was opened on 22 November 1980. Although this section of the route runs along a disused branch line from the CN, but had protests by local residents means that a tunnel was built in an open design for the Subway. Due to the prevailing around petty crime, the newspaper Toronto Star called the Warden station as a " known problem area ".
