Castlebar

Castlebar ( Irish: Caisleán to Bharraigh ) is the one with 12,369 inhabitants ( 2010) largest city of the Irish counties Mayo and also its administrative seat (the seat of Mayo County Councils ).

Economy and Transport

At the junction of two major roads ( the N5 Westport to Dublin and the N60 to Galway ) lying, it is one of the fastest growing cities in Ireland, with a tree ( as yet ) mainly smaller shops main shopping street in the city center.

Attractions

The oldest building in the city is the Christian Church of the Church of Ireland, whose foundation stone was laid in 1739. Another attraction is the Museum of Country Life with an old mansion within the system, which you can visit.

Otherwise, the city is comparatively low in attractions and historical sites and tourist facilities, such as those found among others in Westport, the other major city of the area.
