Catacora

Catacora (also: Catacora Salida ) is a village in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Catacora is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Catacora in the province of José Manuel Pando. The village lies at an altitude of 4268 m near the Peruvian border in the headwaters of the tributaries of the Rio Mauri, which flows south of Lake Titicaca in the Río Desaguadero.

Geography

Catacora is located southwest of Lake Titicaca on the Bolivian Altiplano on the eastern edge of the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Occidental, which rises here to about 5000 m.
