Cate Campbell

Cate Campbell (born 20 May 1992, Blantyre, Malawi) is an Australian freestyle swimmer.

Cate Campbell began at the age of nine, shortly after her family had moved from Malawi to Australia, with the swimming. In the Australian Junior Olympics in 2007 she won gold over 50 m freestyle and the 4 × 100 -meter freestyle relay. The Japan Open 2008, she won the 50m and even let the Olympic champion Libby Trickett behind. It swam in 24.48 seconds Commonwealth record. The student of Kenmore State High School in Brisbane started in the Olympic Summer Games 2008 in Beijing. For this, she qualified as a runner-up over 50 m and 100 m at the Australian excretions. About 100 m freestyle she could not qualify for the final run to. With the Australian squadron to Alice Mills, Melanie Schlanger and Lisbeth Trickett won the 100m freestyle behind the Dutch and the U.S. relay Bronze 4 ×. She also won the bronze medal over 50 meters freestyle. With the World Swimming Championships 2009 in Rome came back bronze added over 50 meters freestyle.

Her younger sister Bronte is also swimmer and reached the semi-finals as Cate over 50 meters freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. In the overall standings Cate took on the track the 13th Place. Far more successful she was with the 4 × 100 meter freestyle relay in Australia. On the side of Alicia Coutts, Brittany Elmslie and Emily Seebohm won the gold medal.
