Celso Ayala

Celso Rafael Ayala Gavilán ( born August 20, 1970 in Asunción, Paraguay ) is a former Paraguayan footballer (defender).

From 1993 to 2003 Ayala graduated 85 caps for his country and scored six goals. He is one of the most successful national team of his country. In the 90s he formed together with Francisco Arce and Carlos Gamarra defensive of his team and was himself one of the key players. Ayala participated in the World Cup finals in 1998 and 2002.

His most successful period as a club player experienced Ayala in Argentina at the top club River Plate from Buenos Aires.
