Central Military Commission (People's Republic of China)

The Central Military Commission (ZMK; Chinese中央 军事 委员会, pinyin Zhongyang Junshi Wěiyuánhuì ) the PRC has the direct command of the People's Liberation Army. In contrast, the Defense Department has no power of command and is used only for political purposes, such as contact with the armed forces of other nations.

Structure

ZMK is a political hermaphrodite organ. Originally it was an organ of the Communist Party of China and was occupied directly by the Central Committee. Since the Constitution of 1982, she is also state organ and the National People's Congress, at least formally responsible. These four departments also act as executive organs of the Ministry of Defence, against which the Central Military Commission is authorized to issue. 2004, the State Central Military Commission was extended by the Commander of the Army, Air Force and Navy to eleven members. Secretary General of the ZKM is Major General Wang Guanzhong.
