Černá Hora (Blansko District)

Cerna Hora ( German Schwarzenberg, also Czernahora, after 1920 in the spelling Černahora ) is a Městys in Okres Blansko in the Czech Republic.

Location

Cerna Hora is located eight kilometers north-west of Blansko in Moravia at the transition between the Drahany country and the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands, a creek Býkovka. Neighboring towns in the West Žernovník, in the north and east Býkovice and Bořitov Rájec- Jestřebí. Through the village leads the European Route 461

History

Czernahora was first mentioned in 1049 on the occasion of the consecration of the monastery Raigern. Another record dates from 1279. Built in the 13th century castle of the same was from 1281 to 1298 in the possession of Matthias of Czernahora. From 1333 to 1597 the place belonged to the lords of Boskowitz that after they lost their headquarters Boskowitz to the Lords of Kunštát in the 14th century, the surname " Černohorský " used. 1390 Czernahora was the seat of government of the same name, was first described as a town. In Latin writings it is referred to with the place name Nigromons, in parish registers to birth, marriage and death is used until the end of World War I in 1918 Montenegro or in German-speaking believers Schwarzenberg. 1530, the brothers Tas and Jaroslav Černohorský of Boskowitz founded a brewery, which achieved good sales with their beer - Montenegro. Albrecht Černohorský of Boskowitz left after 1556 the dilapidated castle rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau. After the death of Johann " Šembera " of Boskowitz and Černahora with which the Boskovice 1597 extinct in the male line, Czernahora inherited his daughter Anna Maria, who was married to Charles I of Liechtenstein. During the reign of Liechtenstein, the Church of St. Lawrence was built in 1707-1710. 1711 came Czernahora to the Auersperg, later to the family Morzin - Czernin. After the dissolution of patrimonial rule the place came 1848 and the Brno circuit.

The best-known companies of the place is today the Brewery Cerna Hora, which produces the eponymous beer brand. Since 2006, Cerna Hora is a Městys.

The population growth was moderate. 1880 inhabitants were counted in 1287 (only Czech ), 1930 there were 1536 and 1991, 1904 inhabitants. The coat of arms of the town with the silver serrated bar in red is the coat of arms of the lords of Boskowitz and Schwarzenberg and keeps the memory of their historical significance awake.

Attractions

  • The Cerna Hora Castle was built on the site of a Gothic castle, which was rebuilt in 1556 in Renaissance style. After a fire in 1724 the dilapidated castle in 1830 by Johann Nepomuk was bought by Geiss learning and to 1861 by Count Moritz Friess († 1887) renovated and restored in 1859.
