Cerrillos is a city in Uruguay.

Geography

It is located in the west of the department of Canelones in its sector 3 It is each a few kilometers south of Aguas Corrientes and Santa Lucía and southwest of the capital of the department of Canelones. In the urban area are the sources of the Arroyo Durán and the Arroyo del Juncal, both tributaries of the Río Santa Lucía.

History

Cerrillos was founded on August 3, 1896. By statutory enactment (Ley 3188 ) from July 5, 1907, this step was also officially completed and it was assigned as a " Pueblo ". On October 23, 1958 then followed with Law No. 12,581 the upgrading in the category " Villa ", before finally Cerrillos was declared the " Ciudad " July 20, 1971.
