Chakan ( Marathi: चाकण, Cakan ) is a small town of 21,674 (2001) inhabitants and a special economic zone in the district of Pune in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

The town lies at an average altitude of almost 650 m is located approximately 60 kilometers east-southeast of Mumbai and 20 kilometers north Pune.

Economy

Apart from the planned near the city moving the airport Pune include already following international companies located: Robert Bosch GmbH, Mercedes, Volkswagen, the International Automotive Components Group (IAC ), Mahindra & Mahindra, Dow Chemical, Infosys, DEMAG, Lear Corporation, Benteler and Fujitsu.
