Challapata

Challapata is a small town in the department of Oruro in the highlands of South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

Challapata is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Challapata and capital of the province Eduardo Avaroa. The city lies at an altitude of 3732 m at the edge of the 250-acre flood plain of the River Tacagua on the eastern shore of Lake Poopó. Directly southeast of the city rises the Cerro Azanaques, with 5,102 m the highest peak of the Cordillera Azanaques.

Geography
