Charles Cathcart, 7th Earl Cathcart

Charles Alan Andrew Cathcart, 7th Earl Cathcart ( born November 30, 1952) is a British peer, politician ( Conservative Party ) and Chief of the Clan Cathcart.

Life and career

Cathcart, son of Alan Cathcart, 6th Earl Cathcart and Rose Mary Clare Marie Gabrielle Smyth - Osbourne († 1980) attended Eton College.

From 1972 to 1975 Cathcart was second lieutenant of the Scots Guards. Subsequently, he was from 1976 to 1983 worked at Ernst and Whinney and CA 1983 Hogg Robinson plc. From 1987 to 1994 he was director of the Gardner Mountain and Capel- Cure Agencies Ltd. and from 1995 to 1996 the Murray Lawrence Holdings Ltd.. Currently (February 2011) he is a director of RGA Capital Ltd., the RGA UK Services Ltd and RGA Reinsurance UK Ltd, and Vivien Greenock Ltd. He is a member of the Royal Company of Archers and Liveryman of the Merchant Taylor 's Company.

He was an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and 1998-2007 Councillor of the Breckland District Council.

Membership in the House of Lords

Cathcart inherited in 1999 the title of Earl Cathcart from his father, and the associated seat in the House of Lords. This he lost already in the same year by the House of Lords Act 1999.

In 2007 he was in a special election to replace the deceased Charles Stourton, 26th Baron Mowbray, nachgewählt. On 13 March 2007 and its official launch. Family

Cathcart married on 12 September 1981 Vivien Clare Skinner, an interior designer with the artist name Vivien Greenock. They have two children: Lady Laura Rosemary Cathcart (* 1984) and Alan George Cathcart, Lord Greenock (* 1986)
