Charles G. Bond

Charles Grosvenor Bond ( * May 29, 1877 in Columbus, Ohio; † January 10, 1974 in Bound Brook, New Jersey) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1921 and 1923 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Charles Henry Grosvenor was his uncle.

Career

Charles Grosvenor Bond was born before the Nez Perce War in Columbus and grew up there. During this time he attended public schools and graduated in 1899 at the Faculty of Law of the Ohio State University. His admission to the bar he was in the same year and commenced practice in Columbus. In 1903 he moved to New York City, where he had continued to work as a lawyer. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1920 for the 67th Congress Bond in the eighth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William E. Cleary on 4 March 1921. In 1922 he suffered in his re-election bid a defeat and retired after March 3, 1923 the Congress of.

After his time Congress he resumed his activities as a lawyer. He also pursued banking transactions. In his candidacy in 1926 for the post of President in Borough of Brooklyn, he suffered a defeat. He took 1936 as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in part. Between 1934 and 1970 he was a member of the New York City Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and between 1960 and 1970 he was presiding there. After that he went into retirement. He died on January 10, 1974 in Bound Brook. His body was cremated and the ashes interred in the West Union Cemetery in Athens ( Ohio).
