Charles Jacque

Charles Emile Jacque (* May 23, 1813 in Paris, France, † May 7, 1894 ibid ) was a French painter and graphic artist of the Barbizon School.

Life

In the family of painters Jacque he is the father of Emile Frederic and brother of Leon. The artist was a French animal ( sheep) and landscape painter and printmaker versatile of the Barbizon School. He was active in the graphic area as an etcher, engraver, lithographer, wood cutters, engravers cards. In his etchings sticks his main performance. From about 1850 he worked with the Zinkografie and used it for his illustrations.

At age 17, he learned maps stinging, served from 1830 for several years as a soldier. He laid siege to the city of Antwerp, where his first landscape originated in drypoint, as well as humorous and military scenes. 1835, after his release from military service, he traveled to Burgundy, where his family lived and then he began a self-taught natural impressions into the painting implement. Well, by many observations with flocks of sheep on farms, in butcher shops, he began painting animals ( pets). After 1848 a long study visits with his friends Jean -François Millet ( 1814-1875 ) and Théodore Rousseau (1812 - 1867) in Barbizon. In 1839 he followed up on first relations with Best, editor of the magazine Pittoresque. In 1836 he went to London, and after 20 -month absence in 1838 returned to Paris.
