Charles Wright (botanist)

Charles Wright ( born October 29, 1811 in Wethersfield, Connecticut; † August 11, 1885 ) was an American botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " C.Wright "; earlier was also the abbreviation " Wright " in use, but which is currently awarded for John Wright.

Wright graduated in 1835 at Yale University. In 1853 he participated in the United States North Pacific Exploring Expedition as a botanist in part; his collections made this expedition were processed by Asa Gray in Cambridge. Between 1857 and 1863 he undertook numerous collecting trips to Cuba, which have been described in part by August Grisebach in his Plantae Wrightianae e ORIENTALI Cuba. After his recent trip to Cuba in 1867 he spent much time at the Gray Herbarium in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Wright worked at the factory Flora cubana ( 1868-1873 ) with Francisco Adolfo Sauvalle.
