Reception

Chasing Ice

" ... Shows images that are unforgettable, full of beauty and terror. " "The pictures also show how fast the ice melts. [ ... ] They make sensual understandable, what is only spoken at climate conferences. "

" ... Different from most attempts of cinema to save the world from climate catastrophe. [ ... ] But his powers of persuasion draws "Chasing Ice" then but not from science but from the arts - from the immense power of his images. [ ... ] The pictures are stunning, somehow naturally beautiful -. , And oppressive "

" ... The Extreme Ice Survey Balogs recordings could develop a similar historical significance as Keeling's measurements for science for the public perception. [ ... ] The important thing about this film is [ ... ] that he manages the difficult feat of the viewer to make climate change a good bit of experience and empathize. The film makes a conscious and emotionally, we experience the changes of geological extent these days and cause. This is explained Balogs hope that this is just not aware of us in time. Those who continue to want to do, as if we had no urgent problem, which should not watch this movie. All others - especially people who have had children or political responsibility - should know him. "

" ... Never the consequences of global warming are so artistic and disturbing at the same time set the scene. [ ... ] Orlowski has rotated with Chasing Ice scientific documentation that never accuses loud. Especially researchers, James Balog and his team have their say. The facts are as they are, the photos do not lie in fast motion. [ ... ] Balogs message is clear: We know what happened out there. "
