The Chaun (Russian Чаун ) is a river in the Chukchi Autonomous District in the extreme northeast of Siberia.

The Chaun springs on the Anadyr Plateau on the northwest edge of the Elgygytgyn crater. In the upper reaches of the river is called Maly Chaun ( Малый Чаун, "Little Tschaun "). It flows through a sparsely populated tundra landscape in predominantly northerly direction. Finally, the Chaun reached the Tschaunbucht on the coast of the East Siberian Sea. The Chaun and coming from the east Paljawaam form a common estuary region where the river branches unite and separate again. Directly west ends of Putschewejem. The most important tributaries of the Chaun are Ugatkyn from the left and from the right Milguwejem. The Chaun has a length of 205 km. Its catchment area covers 23,000 km ².
