The Tschaunbucht (Russian Чаунская губа ) is located in the Autonomous District of the Chukchi on the north coast of north-eastern Siberia to the East Siberian Sea.

The bay extends about 150 km into the interior. Its width is 100 km. The large Aion Island and the two very small Routan Islands lie at the exit of the bay. About three waterways of the bay is connected to the sea: Small Chaun road ( Proliw Maly Tschaunski, in the west, between Aion and the mainland), Proliw Sredni ( between Aion and the Routan Islands, about 30 km wide ) and Pevek ( in East, between the Bolshoi and the Routan located at the mainland port Pevek ). Due to its northern location, the bay is ice-covered during most of the year. On the south shore, several major rivers flow into the Tschaunbucht, including Paljawaam, Chaun, Putschewejem, Itschuwejem, Kremjanka and Leljuwejem.
