Chiyayoc

Chiyayoc is a small village in northwestern Argentina. It is part of the Department Iruya in the province of Salta. The village lies at 3100 meters above sea level, 4 km east of San Juan and 9 km north of Iruya.

Chiyayoc belongs to the Finca el Potrero and has a school ( escuela N ° 4345 ) with about 30 students. The village lives from agriculture and tourism. It can be reached from Iruya on foot in about six hours.

The name comes from the Quechua and Chiyayoc means Chiyagua - area. It refers to a plant called Chiyagua that grows in the area.
