Chocholná-Velčice

Chocholná - Velčice is a municipality in the north- west of Slovakia with 1,700 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Trenčín, Trenčín Region a part of.

Geography

The municipality is located in the middle Považie on the right bank of the Waag in the shadow of the north-west the White Carpathians. The almost 28 km ² large municipality forms a strip of Považie (height 198 m nm) out over the valley Chocholianska valley to the border with the Czech Republic on the main ridge of the White Carpathian Mountains with heights of about 800 m nm Throughout the municipality of Bach Chocholianka flows. The center is located at an altitude of 220 m nm and is 10 kilometers by road from Trenčín.

Chocholná - Velčice divided into parts of municipalities Chocholná, Kykula and Velčice.

History

Today's church was built in 1960 by the merger of places Chocholná and Velčice. Chocholná in turn originated in 1944 after a merger of places Mala and Velka Chocholná Chocholná.

The places were for the first time in 1345 (as Welchycz for Velčice ), 1396 (as Kys Hoholna for Malá Chocholná ) and 1481 (as Naghoholna for VeLka Chocholná ) mentioned in writing.

Traffic

In Chocholná is an important road junction. There the streets 1st order 61 (Bratislava - Bytča ) and 50 (E 572, CZ- border Zvolen - Košice - border UA ) intersect. The former road was in the late 1990s replaced by the D1 motorway ( E 75, Bratislava - Žilina). At the site over the two-track railway line Bratislava - Žilina, with connections in the neighboring Kostolná - Záriečie ( transport) or in Trenčín ( Highway ) runs.
